Developing novel drugs through the traditional drug discovery pipeline is a long, costly, and risky process. However, repurposing existing drugs expedites therapy development. As compared to their approved applications, scientists can use the repurposed drugs to treat different diseases, develop new drug formulations, or change their delivery methods into the body.
