This webinar will be hosted live and available on-demand

Spaceflight poses unique challenges to the human body, including affecting liver function. Researchers have observed non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), a global health concern, in mice aboard the International Space Station. Therefore, scientists are exploring how spaceflight conditions such as microgravity and increased radiation exposure affect the relationship between the liver and immune system.

In this webinar brought to you by Miltenyi Biotec, Noah Allen will highlight how understanding the effects of spaceflight on immune-mediated liver damage has broad applications for studying disease pathology and immune system dynamics in large populations.

Topics to be covered

  • The effects of microgravity and radiation on liver health
  • The interactions between the liver and the immune system in space
  • Liver macrophage and Kupffer cell behavior under simulated microgravity and radiation exposure
